SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The San Angelo Police Department announced the retirement of a lieutenant who spent nearly 30 years at the department.
SAPD shared that Lt. Tracy Fincher retired on Jan. 3, 2025.
Lt. Fincher began working in the US Navy in 1989. After he left in 1993, he started working in law enforcement at the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office. Just two years later, he joined SAPD.
The police department reported that Lt. Fincher began working with SAPD on Nov. 1, 1995. At the beginning of his career, he was assigned to the patrol division and later moved to the Rio Concho Multi-Agencent Force as a narcotics detective.
Some of his career accomplishments include:
- March 1, 2002 - Lt. Fincher was promoted to sergeant. While in the rank he was assigned to patrol, the Office of Professional Standards and administration.
- Aug. 16, 2004 - Lt. Fincher was promoted to lieutenant. While in this rank he was assigned to patrol, narcotics, criminal investigations, intel and the street crimes division.
- Awarded Officer of the Year in 2005
- Awarded CID Supervisor of the Year in 2013
- Awarded Chief's Special Award in 2015
- Awarded Investigative Supervisor of the Year in 2016
"We also would like to thank him for his dedicated service of 14 years that he served on the SAPD SWAT Team, finishing that tenure as the Commander," SAPD said.
