SAN ANGELO, TX. — The Christoval Lady Cougar softball team is looking to continue the growth in the program following their first playoff appearance a year ago.
The Lady Cougars were able to finish in the top four spots a year ago in their first year of being a UIL softball program, and now have big goals in mind for the rest of this season.
"We are just growing everyday. I think everyday we just get better. This year we are setting bigger goals for ourselves. Yes, we are sitting fourth in district right now but with the second part of district coming up we are looking to make bigger waves and show everybody that we are not the fourth place team in this district. We should be the second or third place team heck even the first place team. We've been right there with those girls every day," said head coach Halee Marth.
Christoval is looking to accomplish these goals this season, while also having a place to call home for the first time taking each day to improve their craft as the second round of district play quickly approaches.
"It's really cool seeing how much everyone's grown. Some people haven't even played softball their whole life. I have played since I was little but just seeing some girls start off as freshman and transitioning to one of the best players on our team is really crazy," said senior third basemen Myley Hariman.
The Lady Cougars are back home tomorrow when they travel to Miles.
