The owner of Nacho's Restaurant Cantina and Grill was awarded the Youth Workforce Employer of the Year award for 2024 on Dec. 9.
Simon Rincon received the national award for his work helping young people through job training by teaching everything from interview techniques to giving young workers work experience in their career field.
"When I was younger, we didn't have this opportunity and it was, sometimes just to get a job was really hard and you know and really not having anybody there to support us to teach us, 'Hey this how you make a résumé, here's how you do this and that', so lack of education really, it was harder to get a job and whenever they, the workforce, presented this to me, my heart really felt that this is the way we needed to go," Rincon said.
The Concho Valley Workforce Commission is looking for new students to register for the program along with more area employers to partner with for the program. Those who are interested in learning from the program or becoming a partner can sign up on the Concho Valley Workforce Commission website.
