SERIES HISTORY:

All-Time Series: ASU leads the series 71-24

Last Meeting: Feb. 4, 2024: ASU, 8-0 – Portales, N.M.

The Rams have dominated the overall series against the Greyhounds, taking 74% of the contests and scoring over eight runs a game since the Rams inaugural season in 2005. However, ENMU earned a split in Portales, N.M. to snap a 21-game winning streak to begin the 2024 season.

LAST TIME OUT:

The Rams earned a series sweep of West Texas A&M on the road this past weekend for the first time since 2016 and the first time in Canyon since 2006.

At the plate, the Blue and Gold hammered 10 homers against the Buffs including four from outfielder Ethan Flodstrom which earned him Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week honors. Another notable performance from the weekend was Tayten Tredaway who went 3-for-5 with a home run, a triple and a double while registering four RBI in game one.

On the mound, The Rams followed up strong starting performances with even stronger support from the bullpen. Keene Kreusler, Luke Olson, Scott Ellis, Seth Foster, Colby Casey and Josh Reed each turned in scoreless appearances across the series to help solidify the team's seventh sweep of the season.

OPENING THE FLOD-GATES

After the weekend where he went 10-for-17 with four home runs, three doubles and 10 RBI, Ethan Flodstrom was named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week. The senior business management student scored nine runs and walked three times while collecting at least two hits in each game. In the series-clinching Game 3, the Port Angeles, Wash. native hit two home runs – one being a grand slam on the way to leading the Rams the first sweep of WT since 2016 and first on the road since 2006.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS:

Eastern New Mexico enters the weekend with a 26-16 overall record and currently sit tied with St. Mary's, West Texas A&M and Lubbock Christian in fourth place with a 24-16 conference record. Last time out, the Greyhounds split with the Chaps at home, the fifth time they've done so this season, doing so with St. Edward's, UT Permian Basin, UT Tyler and St. Mary's earlier this season.

ENMU's team batting average of .318 puts them fifth in the Lone Star Conference. The Greyhounds boast two hitters who are currently swinging above a .400 batting average. Willie Ponce (.415) leads the 'hounds in doubles (15) while Luciano Terilli leads in OPS (1.245), triples (4) and home runs (9).

On the mound, Eastern's 6.79 team ERA puts them seventh in the conference. Despite this, the Greyhounds will enter the series with the reigning Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week in the form of Adrian Rubio. The senior came out of the bullpen to throw six shutout innings with five strikeouts and earn the win in the conference series opener against Lubbock Christian. Another notable name to look out for is Saturday starter Josiah Estrella who holds onto a perfect 6-0 record and leads all qualified pitchers on the team with a 4.14 ERA.
