SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State softball team completed a perfect weekend on Sunday afternoon at the Mayer Softball Field, defeating UT Permian Basin 7-0 in game one before finishing off the weekend with an 8-0, five-inning run-rule win.

The Rambelles outscored their opposition 33-1 for the weekend and claimed three run-rule wins.

In game one, the Rambelles scored three runs in the first inning on a groundout, an Averie Gunther single, and a Falcon error.

They would tack on two more in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Lauren De La Cruz and an RBI single by Zoey De Baca.

The Rambelles' final two runs would come two innings later, with De Baca hitting a sacrifice fly and a double steal plating the final run.

Gunther started in the circle, throwing a perfect first inning with two strikeouts before making way for Cheyenne Floyd, who threw three innings and struck out six while only allowing one hit. Floyd earns her 20th win inside the circle this season, matching her win total from last season.

Matie Wolkow threw the final three innings, only allowing one hit as she picked up her fourth save.

The Rambelles opened the scoring in game two with three runs in the second inning.

Gunther led the frame with a double before scoring on a wild pitch. Back-to-back two-out singles by Abby Brand and Erin Plunkett scored runs to make it 3-0.

Gunther would single in a run an inning later to stretch the Rambelles' lead to four.

The Rambelles doubled their advantage in the following inning, which was kicked off by back-to-back singles by Carter Smith and Brand, which set up Plunkett, whose single to right center scored both runners.

A Gunther two-out single through the right side scored the final two runs.

Bri Waters picks up her second win of the season, throwing four shutout innings and only allowing two hits while recording a strikeout. Amelia Hatthorn threw the final inning in relief to combine for the shutout.

The Rambelles improve to 37-9 on the season and 29-8 in LSC play. They play their final regular season road games this week, traveling to Eastern New Mexico on Wednesday and Western New Mexico on Friday.
