SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State softball team hits the road to the Land of Enchantment for their final road games of the regular season, taking on Eastern New Mexico in Portales on Wednesday afternoon and playing in Silver City against Western New Mexico on Friday afternoon.
LAST TIME OUT
The Rambelles swept the weekend against Sul Ross State and UT Permian Basin, outscoring their opponents 33-1. The Rambelles recorded three run-rule wins in four games and only allowed 11 hits across the four games.
RAMBELLES RANKED NO. 7
The Rambelles are ranked seventh in the latest version of the NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, marking their fourth consecutive week in the seventh spot. The Rambelles are in the nation's top ten for the first time since the 2022 season and were in the top five for the first time since the beginning of the 2021 season.
GUNTHER PLAYS ALL NINE POSITIONS
Senior third baseman Averie Gunther played all nine defensive positions in the Rambelles' doubleheader sweep of Sul Ross State on April 11th, becoming the first player in program history to do so. Starting game one at her customary third base position, she played the first three innings at the hot corner before playing the fourth inning at second base. The next inning saw her feature in right field, center field, and shortstop. The Wylie native started game two in the circle, throwing an inning before playing the next two innings at third. The fourth inning saw her play in left field, and she started off the fifth inning at first base before ending the frame behind the plate. She recorded a putout or assist at six positions and did not make an error.
FLOYD RECORDS
Senior pitcher Cheyenne Floyd continues to put her name all over the career record book at Angelo State. The senior is second in program history in career ERA (1.95) and is first in opponent batting average (.199). Her 413 strikeouts for the Blue and Gold are the second most, and her 46 wins are the tenth most.
SCOTT PASSES 1K CAREER WINS
Head coach Travis Scott won his 1,000th career game on Friday, March 28th, against UT Permian Basin. He is the first coach to win all 1,000 games in the Lone Star Conference. He won his first 101 games at Southeastern Oklahoma before winning the following 908 wins at the helm of the Rambelles softball program.
