SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Multiple roads in downtown San Angelo will be temporarily closed beginning May 8 while they undergo maintenance. Here's where the closures are and when they'll happen.

According to an announcement made by the City of San Angelo, the road work will begin on May 9 and is expected to finish by May 11. During this time, several streets will experience closures while PressurePave is applied to them.

Affected roads will be closed off with barricades by 6 a.m. on their given day. The City stated that "businesses should not be directly affected for more than a day."

The schedule for the street projects is as follows:

  • Wednesday, May 8
    • Irving Street (from East College Avenue to West River Drive).
  • Thursday, May 9
    • Beauregard Avenue, Twohig Avenue, Concho Avenue (from Irving Street to Chadbourne Street).
  • Friday, May 10
    • Oakes Street (from East College Avenue to the Oakes Street Bridge).
  • Saturday, May 11
    • Beauregard Avenue, Twohig Avenue, Concho Avenue (from Chadbourne Street to Oakes Street).

According to the City, PressurePave is "a multipart single application process" that does the following:

  • Uses pressure to force liquid crack sealant and waterproofing membrane into all the cracks (large and small) completely sealing the surface.
  • Applies a thin mix of rock and asphalt that will level and smooth small undulations in the roadway.
  • Applies a second coat of mix to further improve the driving surface.
