San Angelo ISD Join Community Partners for Manos a la Obra Emergent Bilingual Community Resource Night

May 12, 2025

San Angelo ISD proudly hosted Manos a la Obra, a free and family-friendly community resource night on April 29 at Bradford Elementary. The event welcomed SAISD emergent bilingual students and their families for an evening filled with cultural celebration, vital community resources and hands-on support.

Designed to strengthen connections between families, schools and the wider San Angelo community, the evening featured information about SAISD’s bilingual program, enrollment support for the 2025–2026 school year, and a variety of engaging activities for all ages.

“Manos a la Obra was a beautiful reflection of what happens when schools and communities come together to support our emergent bilingual families,” said Berta Sepulveda, San Angelo ISD Director of Emergent Bilingual. “It was more than just an event – it was a celebration of culture, connection, and the shared commitment to helping every student thrive.”

More than 80 people attended the event and enjoyed snacks and refreshments; free books, toys and community partner swag; and a vibrant performance by Bradford Elementary’s “Danzantes de Corazón” dance team.

Outside, Bradford’s parking lot transformed into an “Outdoor Resource Hub,” where 24 community partners set up booths to share helpful information, distribute giveaways and connect with families. H-E-Buddy was also on hand to add to the fun, snapping photos and bringing smiles to students and families alike.

“Seeing families engage with our bilingual program, connect with community partners, and enjoy the vibrant performances reminded us of the power of belonging,” said. Ms. Sepulveda. Events like this strengthen the bridge between home and school, and affirm that every language, every culture, and every family is valued in SAISD.”

SAISD is pleased to create a connection with community partners through the event, who bring valuable resources that benefit our students and families. In Bradford’s parking lot, 24 community partners visited with families and provided them with giveaways and information on programs and services they provide. H-E-Buddy interacted and took pictures with students and families.

SAISD extends our appreciation to our community partners and resources who joined us to create a fun and impactful event and provide our families with great resources, information and fun giveaways like children’s books in English and Spanish.
