Description

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — A San Angelo resident was arrested on May 1 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly threatened a man with a gun following a minor collision at the Whataburger on Knickerbocker Road.

According to a warrant of arrest, the incident began on April 28 when a San Angelo Police Department officer was dispatched to 4646 Knickerbocker Road at 2:34 a.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, the officer learned through testimony, the victim's rear dash camera footage and the restaurant's surveillance footage that a man, later identified as 35-year-old Jesse Galvan of San Angelo, struck the rear end of the victim's vehicle while it was in the drive-thru line.

The victim then reported that he exited the line, parked his vehicle near a curb and exited it, with surveillance recordings corroborating his report. He stated that intended to make contact with Galvan to exchange information and insurance.

Upon approaching the driver's side window of Galvan's vehicle, Galvan allegedly rolled down the window and pointed a black Glock handgun at the victim's face. Surveillance footage shows the victim raising his hand, retreating to his own vehicle and verbalizing that Galvan had a gun.

Video surveillance then shows Galvan driving his vehicle out of the drive-thru line and positioning it behind the victim's vehicle "seemingly to continue being aggressive," according to the warrant. The footage depicts Galvan rolling down his window and communicating with the victim, who reports that Galvan called him an expletive.

The footage then shows Galvan driving his vehicle around the Whataburger building before driving back to where the victim is parked to confront him again. Afterward, Galvan departed the scene and was unable to be located by responding police.

However, the license plate of Galvan's vehicle was found in the surveillance recordings, leading law enforcement to conduct a license plate registration check that would show that the vehicle was registered in Galvan's name. The information obtained from the registration check would be cross-examined with Galvan's driver's license photograph, which would then be cross-compared to the victim's dash camera footage.

Galvan would then be traced back to his home address. Some time afterward, he was arrested on May 1 at 8:47 p.m. for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.

Galvan had a posted bond of $150,000. He would be released from custody on May 2 at 10:43 a.m., according to inmate records kept by the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office.
