SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The San Angelo Police Department has shed new light on a vehicle wreck that occurred the morning of Dec. 19 and resulted in "substantial damage" being dealt to The Tilted Mug.

According to the SAPD, the incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. at 3520 Knickerbocker Road, the address of The Tilted Mug. The department stated that John Montelongo, 40, "caused significant property damage" to The Tilted Mug as well as "a parked vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol."

SAPD officers responding to the scene determined that Montelongo lost control of his vehicle. They also "observed indicators that led to the arrest of Montelongo for DWI."

The department said that, although no injuries were reported, the crash caused "substantial damage" to the bar and the parked vehicle. It reported that "initial estimates place the total damages of the business at over $10,000."

The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office jail roster stated that Montelongo was booked into the Tom Green County Detention Center at 2:22 a.m. for one charge of driving while intoxicated. He was released at 1:31 p.m.
