SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) Angelo State Volleyball had a dramatic weekend amongst the busy 3 days over at the Junell Center. Rambelles Volleyball reached the Elite 8 after winning the South Central Regional this past weekend.
The Rambelles entered Friday as the top seed of the region. They would go on to back to back sweeps to open the first 2 days of the tourney. Day 3 came and the Rambelles found themselves in a dog fight. After winning the first set, the Belles would have to claw back in set 2 to win that one. But a 3rd set loss would make things more interesting. The Belles would take a 3 point lead late in the 4th set before finding themselves down 24-22 facing a MSU set point. The Belles would battle back tying the contest at 24 all and 27 all before eventually winning the 4th and final set 30-28.
We caught up with Head Coach Chuck Waddington to talk about the dramatic 4th and final set and a few players he wanted to highlight from this past weekends tourney, specifically that final day on Sunday.
The Belles drew the 3 seed in the Elite 8 and will travel to Sioux Falls this week to conclude the NCAA Division 2 tournament. They play Thursday against the 6th seed Gannon, who is 26-7 this season. First serve is 11am this Thursday.
