SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) Friday night was the game of the year in the Concho Valley so far this high school football season. Central came up short vs longtime rival the Permian Panthers(MOJO) by 2 points in a thrilling classic.

In a game that no one predicted would go the way it did the Bobcats came out swinging after allowing an opening touchdown drive to Mojo. The Bobcats would match that long drive with one of their own walking away with a field goal. After an interception the ensuing Permian drive, the Bobcats would match scores with Mojo taking the game into halftime with the lead 16-14.

This game came down to the very end. with roughly 2 and a half to play in the game Central would stop Mojo getting the ball back down 8 points and would have a huge 74 yard touchdown run by QB Christian English with only the 2 point needed to tie it up. Unfortunately the 2 point try wasn't converted and Permian would run the final minute off the clock to win by 2 points. We spoke to Head coach Mark Smith regarding his teams effort and his overall thought regarding Friday nights tough loss.
