SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Click the video above for the latest on Lake View Maidens basketball and hear from head coach Gabriel Chapa.
Despite a 2-12 record and recent offensive struggles, head coach Gabriel Chapa believes his team is on the cusp of gaining traction.
As of Wednesday, Dec. 18, the Maidens hold a three-game losing streak. The team is certainly hungry to return to the win column; in order to do so, its lineup must create a stronger balanced attack.
Chapa is impressed with his team's defensive efforts this season, and it's a big reason the Maidens have at least given themselves a chance in several games. However, the offense must both create and capitalize on scoring opportunities.
"We are so anemic when it comes to the offensive side of the ball. We're one or two pieces from fitting in place for it to blow open," Chapa said.
It doesn't help that two key players are currently sidelined due to injury: Juniors Analycia Vasquez and Maxima Poe. Vasquez is also the team's leading scorer. Once healthy, Lake View could find itself reentering the win column if things begin to click offensively.
