EDMOND, OK - The Angelo State women's tennis team defeated No. 24 Missouri Western 4-3 Saturday afternoon at the Edmond Tennis Courts. 

 

The Belles improve to 5-0 with the win.

 

The Rambelles dropped their second doubles point of the year as the freshman pairing of Benedetta Raggiotti and Margaux Rene would fall to Maeva Roguet and Johanna Priedite 6-2.

Mary-June Quinn and Jessica Li tied the doubles portion 1-1 as they defeated Elena Ray Garcia and Ellie Messenger 6-3. 

 

Cel Castano Mainero and Cristina Granero Boj defeated third-ranked Avery Durham and Eva Schwartz, 7-5 to clinch the doubles point for the Griffins. 

 

Margaux Rene would once again record the first point for the Belles as she defeated Elena Ray Garcia 6-1, 6-2 on Court Three to make it 1-1 in the match. 

 

Johanna Priedite defeated Jessica Li 6-1, 6-3 to give Missouri Western the 2-1 advantage in the match.

 

Christina Granero Boj defeated Eva Schwartz 7-6, 6-3 to make the match 3-1 in favor of the Griffins. 

 

Avery Durham defeated Ellie Messenger 6-1, 7-5 to bring the match 3-2 in favor of Missouri Western.

 

Ivet Stancheva defeated Cel Castano Mainero in a three-set thriller 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 to tie the match 3-3 and extend her undefeated streak to 11 matches in a row.

 

The match would come down to Elise Gillis and Kyleigha Fenwick. Gillis would clinch the match for the Belles defeating Fenwick 6-3 in straight sets.

The Belles will return to action on Feb.21 as they take on Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia, Arkansas with first serve scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
