Description

SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State softball team plays its first road games of the 2025 season this weekend. They make the trip east to the Metroplex to face Texas Woman's on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. before ending their trip on Monday in East Texas, where they will take on top-ranked and defending national champions UT Tyler.

Originally scheduled for a Friday and Sunday doubleheader, the games have been pushed back one day due to forecasted inclement weather in the Metroplex and East Texas.

LAST TIME OUT

The Rambelles went 4-0 to open conference play this past weekend, defeating No. 20 Oklahoma Christian 4-0 and 3-2 before ending the weekend with an 8-0, run-rule victory in game one over Cameron and a 5-3 win in game two over the Aggies.

RAMBELLES RANKED NO. 5

The Rambelles are ranked fifth in the latest version of the NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, up two spots from last week's ranking of seventh. The Rambelles are in the nation's top ten for the first time since the 2022 season and are in the top five for the first time since the beginning of the 2021 season.

ANOTHER NO-NO

Sunday's game one win over Cameron saw the Rambelles claim an 8-0 run-rule in five innings over the Aggies; however, it also saw the Rambelles throw their second no-hitter. Cheyenne Floyd threw the first four innings against the Aggies, striking out five and only allowing two baserunners via HBP before Bri Waters capped off the game with a perfect fifth inning. The Rambelles' first no-hitter came on opening day in an 8-0, run-rule victory over Regis in which Floyd went the distance and struck out 13 batters.

FLOYD NAMED LSC PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Senior pitcher Cheyenne Floyd was named the LSC Pitcher of the Week on Monday for her performances inside the circle this past weekend, as she had a 0.00 ERA in 13 innings, striking out ten. She went 2-0 with a save and capped her weekend by combining with Bri Waters for the no-hitter against Cameron.

SCOTT CLOSES IN ON 1K CAREER WINS

Head coach Travis Scott is closing in on 1,000 career wins. He currently sits on 985 career wins. He is seventh among all Division II coaches in wins and 13th in winning percentage. He is 22nd among all coaches across all three divisions in wins. He won his first 101 games at Southeastern Oklahoma before winning the next 884 wins at the helm of the Rambelles softball program.
