Description

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) The San Angelo Central High School football team opened offseason workouts this week heading into Mark Smith's second season as head coach.

The Bobcats finished 4-6 overall and 1-4 in District 2-6A in 2024.

Despite finishing fifth in district in Smith's first season, the Bobcats were extremely competitive in "The Little Southwest Conference." The Bobcats' four losses in 2-6A were by a combined 24 points.

Central defeated Odessa High 23-13 in the home finale for the Bobcats' only 2-6A victory.

The Bobcats have some big shoes to fill next season, most notably senior quarterback Christian "Squeaky" English, one of the most dynamic signal-callers in 2-6A last season.
