Description
SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage)—Bette Mulley, an author and storyteller in San Angelo with dyslexia, recently published her first children's book, "Scampy Meets Santa."
Mulley said she was inspired by her brother and her hometown in North Carolina to write the story.
"I have difficulty processing information. I call it 'I'm under the umbrella' of dyslexic learning differences, so this was a very difficult process for me," she said.
Her book features Scampy, a squirrel, and follows his decision to choose kindness over revenge. Although it is a children's book, Bette says that it teaches a lesson everyone should learn.
To celebrate and recognize individuals with learning differences, the JPW Learning Center and Berkshire Hathaway hosted the Dia de Dyslexia Fall Festival on Oct. 20.
Bette's book is available on Amazon and at Barnes and Noble Stores.
