SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State track & field teams wrapped up the second day of the 53rd Annual David Noble Relays as the 18th-ranked Rambelles tallied three event wins while the 18th-ranked Rams won two events at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field.

 

ASU leads both team scores as the Rambelles have tallied 66 points while the Rams lead with 49 points.

 

Maricia Spence started the day with a victory in the heptathlon, tallying 5,333 points overall which is the third highest total in Division II this season. She finished first overall in the javelin, tossing a mark of 37.85m (124-4), while taking second in the long jump at 5.98m (19-7.5).

 

Finishing second overall in the heptathlon was Kylie Frush who tallied a personal best of 5,063 points. She also set a personal record in the long jump portion, earning a mark of 6.01m (19-8.5).

 

In the men's decathlon, Mark Burdin came close to a personal best as he won the event with a total of 7,338 points, earning the highest score in DII this year. He earned the fastest time in the 110m hurdles, running 14.76 while also winning the discus (43.33m | 142-2) and the pole vault (4.50m | 14-9.25).

 

Mary Brown won the 3,000m steeplechase as she crossed the finish line in 11:12.33, shaving nearly eight seconds off her previous best time. Chasity Benson finished fourth overall in the event, running a time of 12:20.45.

 

Earning the top collegiate finish in the women's shot put was Fedra Florentin who threw a mark of 14.71m (48-3.25) while Kamryn Williams finished fifth with a toss of 12.90m (42-3.75).

 

In the men's steeplechase, Caden Glenn and Austin Souther finished third and fourth respectively, running times of 10:12.99 and 10:14.09.

 

After taking fifth overall in the heptathlon with 4,476 points, Gracie Stephens finished second overall in the women's triple jump with a mark of 11.80m (38-8.5) while Maggie Morales finished fourth overall with a jump of 11.38m (37-4.5).

 

The Rams tallied three out of the top four finishers in the men's triple jump as Josh Body won with a jump of 15.42m (50-7) while Marcus Wilson (13.87m | 45-6) finished third and Thombias Moy (13.66m | 44-9.75) took fourth.

 

ASU will be back in action for the final day of the David Noble Relays, beginning at 11 a.m. with field events while the running finals will start at 12:30 p.m.
