Richardson, Texas – Coming off a weekend in which the Angelo State softball team went 3-1 in their series against Lubbock Christian, Rambelles senior third baseman Averie Gunther was named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week, the conference announced this afternoon.

Gunther, a Management major from Wylie, hit .600 for the week against the Lady Chaps with a .667 on-base percentage and a 1.200 slugging percentage.

She went 3-for-5 in each doubleheader, driving in three runs and scoring four times across the four games.

Sunday's performance saw two of her hits leave the yard for her first two home runs of the season. Her two-run shot in game two gave the Rambelles a 2-1 lead in the second inning – a lead they did not relinquish.

Gunther's bat has come alive in the second half of the season, having recorded a hit in 13 of her past 16 games – all against LSC West Division opponents. She has recorded 20 hits in her past 40 at-bats for a .500 batting average since March 15^th.

A 2024 All-LSC selection, Gunther is hitting .321 with a .461 on-base percentage. She has been hit by a league-leading 14 pitches this season.

This is Gunther's first weekly honor of her career and the sixth for the Rambelles this season. She is the third Rambelle to earn hitter of the week, joining Laylonna Applin and Tatiana Trotter.

Gunther and the Rambelles are in action this weekend at Mayer Softball Field, hosting Sul Ross State on Friday and UT Permian Basin on Sunday.
