SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Click the video above to preview Wall's upcoming playoff matchup versus Childress and hear from Hawks head coach Craig Slaughter.
Simply put, the Bi-District Round felt like a breeze for the Wall Hawks. Guided by quarterback Landon York, the Hawks defended their home field with a 74-6 win over the winless Anthony Wildcats. York completed five of six passes for 200 yards and five touchdowns. Yes, you read that stat correctly. Additionaly, York had one rush for a 45-yard touchdown.
Wall certainly made it look easy in the Bi-District Round, but head coach Craig Slaughter and his team are more focused on what's next.
The Hawks now prepare to face the Childress Bobcats in the Area Round, an opponent which finished with a 3-1 record in District 1-3A Division II this season.
No matter the opponent, Slaughter's mindset remains unchanged. That is, no practice is ever loose and/or relaxed.
"I wouldn't say it's loose and relaxed, I would say it's the other way. I think their attention has been tuned up, and I think it's been perfectly appropriate," Slaughter said.
Wall's Area Round game versus Childress kicks off on Friday, Nov. 22 at 7pm in Slaton, Texas.
