SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Experts at Atmos Energy are providing tips on how to heat your home and conserve energy as the Concho Valley and the state of Texas prepare for cold weather to hit the area this week.

"Well of course you will use more natural gas because your heat is going to run longer. Same things with electricity," said Rochel Blakemore with Atmos Energy. "But we are prepared for it and don't foresee any problems at all coming up."

Blakemore reminds citizens that if you do have low pressure or no gas, immediately call Atmos Energy's customer service number.

Some things you can do around your house or apartment are:

• Set your home thermostat to 68 degrees
• Ensure your meters and pipes are protected
• Check to make sure your external vents are not blocked

Remember to drip the water faucets so that your pipes do not freeze and do not heat your house with a stove or oven.
