Richardson, Texas – Following a week in which she threw 12.2 innings and did not allow an earned run, Angelo State softball senior Cheyenne Floyd has been named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced this afternoon.
Floyd, a Coaching, Sport, Recreation, and Fitness Administration Student, struck out 15 batters as the Rambelles went 4-0 this past weekend against UT Permian Basin and Sul Ross State.
Against the Falcons, she threw the first six innings, allowing two hits and an unearned run while striking out seven. She re-entered the game in the seventh inning to record the final two outs, striking out a batter and clinching the 4-2 win over the Falcons.
On Sunday, she pitched six innings against the Lobos, allowing five hits and a walk while recording seven strikeouts.
This season, Floyd is 16-5 with a 1.52 ERA; she has struck out 111 batters in 101.1 innings of work, holding opponents to a .173 batting average.
This is Floyd's second weekly honor, also earning conference pitcher of the week on February 17th. This is Floyd's fourth weekly honor of her career, tied for fifth-most in program history.
Floyd and the Rambelles are 30-8 on the season and take on Lubbock Christian this weekend in home-and-home doubleheaders.
