SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — In anticipation of the cold weather conditions the Concho Valley is expected to face in the coming days, Concho Valley Transit has stated that it will offer fare-free rides through its fixed route service for a limited time.
The public transportation provider said via social media that it will offer fixed route rides without fares on Thursday, Jan. 9, and Friday, Jan. 10.
"Your safety is our top priority," CVT said. "We want to ensure everyone can travel safely during this period and has the opportunity to stay warm."
The CVT website states that its fixed route service travels on "six main routes, two ASU routes, and one Goodfellow route." General operation hours for fixed routes are from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with routes instead being opened at 7:30 a.m. on Saturdays.
The fare-free ride offer comes after The National Weather Service of San Angelo reported that “wintry precipitation” is expected to move into parts of the Concho Valley during the night of Jan. 8 before “turning to mostly rain by tomorrow afternoon.” The National Weather Service’s extended forecast stated as of the time of publication that overnight temperatures are expected to reach a low of 30 degrees.
