SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State softball team faces Lubbock Christian this weekend in home-and-home doubleheaders that will see the Rambelles travel to Lubbock on Thursday before the Lady Chaps make the trip to San Angelo on Sunday. 

Friday's doubleheader, initially scheduled for Friday, has been moved up one day due to inclement weather in Lubbock. 

YOUTH SPORTS DAY

Sunday's doubleheader will be the Rambelles' Youth Sports Day. Children in uniforms will be admitted to the game for free, and accompanying adults will receive a discounted rate. The month of April will also see the Rambelles invite kids to run the bases on Mayer Softball Field following the conclusion of each doubleheader. 

LAST TIME OUT

The Rambelles swept all four games this past weekend on the road against UT Permian Basin and Sul Ross State. The Rambelles scored ten or more runs in three of the four games while holding their opposition to eight runs across the four games.

RAMBELLES RANKED NO. 7

The Rambelles are ranked seventh in the latest version of the NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, marking their second consecutive week in the seventh spot. The Rambelles are in the nation's top ten for the first time since the 2022 season and were in the top five for the first time since the beginning of the 2021 season. 

FLOYD RECORDS

Senior pitcher Cheyenne Floyd continues to put her name all over the career record book at Angelo State. The senior is second in program history in career ERA (1.96) and is tied for first in opponent batting average (.202). Her 392 strikeouts for the Blue and Gold are second all-time, and her 44 wins are tenth all-time. 

SCOTT PASSES 1K CAREER WINS

Head coach Travis Scott won his 1,000th career game on Friday against UT Permian Basin. He is the first coach to win all 1,000 games in the Lone Star Conference. He won his first 101 games at Southeastern Oklahoma before winning the following 897 wins at the helm of the Rambelles softball program.

• Angelo State is 30-8 on the season and 21-7 in conference play; the Rambelles are 9-7 on the road and 16-1 at home this season. 
• The Rambelles hit .303 as a team with a .499 slugging and a .414 on-base percentage. The Rambelles average 5.9 runs per game. 
• Four Rambelles are hitting above .300 this season, led by Laylonna Applin's .483 batting average. Applin also leads the team in doubles, triples, home runs, RBI, slugging percentage, and on-base percentage.
• Applin is second in the country in total bases with 116.
• Ashton McMillan is hitting .346 and is second on the team with 33 RBI.
• Tatiana Trotter hits .343 this season and is second on the team in home runs, slugging percentage, and on-base percentage. She has homered five times in the past nine games. 
• Erin Plunkett is hitting .305 with a team-leading 28 walks.
• Averie Gunther has been hit by 13 pitches this season, tied for the most in the LSC and tied for eighth in the country. The Rambelles are seventh in the country with 37 hit by pitches this season. 
• The Rambelles' pitching staff has a 2.25 ERA and 186 strikeouts in 245.1 innings. Their opponent's batting average is .237 this season.
• Cheyenne Floyd is 16-5 with a save and a 1.52 ERA; she has 111 strikeouts in 101.1 innings. Opponents are hitting .173 against Floyd this season. 
• Floyd is sixth in the country with 16 wins this season.
• Amelia Hatthorn is 9-1 on the season with a 2.51 ERA.
• Raegan Sucher owns a 2.03 ERA in 20.2 innings of work in her freshman season.  
• The Rambelles' 2.25 ERA is 24th in the country, and their 19 double plays are ninth. 
• The Rambelles' .970 fielding percentage is the second-best in the LSC.
• Abby Brand has thrown out 10 potential base stealers, the second-most in the conference.
