SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) —San Angelo's official splash pad grand opening was held on July 25 at Unidad Park.
The grand opening featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony with city officials and representatives from All-Tex Irrigation. Funded by $800,000 in community donations and grant money, the splash pad will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Parks and Recreation Director Carl White explained that water is pumped into a 2,000-gallon underground tank, treated with chlorine and ultraviolet light, and then distributed through the splash pad sprayers.
Plans are set for the splash pad to remain open through Labor Day, and additional plans are underway to raise funds for a second splash pad at Kirby Park.
