NEW ORLEANS – The Angelo State track and field teams are in the top 25 rankings as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the first Division II rankings for the outdoor season.
The Rambelles come in at No. 13 in the first poll, while the Rams are ranked 18th.
The women hold seven Division II provisional marks this season, ranking in the top 10 in four events. Marie Schuler has thrown the third-best mark in the country in the hammer at 60.01m (196-10), while Federica Dozio ranks fourth in the javelin at 48.69m (159-9).
On the men's side, the Rams also have seven provisional marks, with Oleg Ananev leading all of Division II in the pole vault, clearing a height of 5.60m (18-4.5). The 4x400m relay team of Taylor Briggs, Adrian Nethersole, Tristan Guerrero, and Rami Balti rank fourth in the country after running a time of 3:09.63 at last week's Texas Relays.
ASU will compete at home this week as the Rams and Rambelles host the 53rd Annual David Noble Relays beginning with the multis on Thursday, April 3.
