SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — A local salon owner and mother of four has been selected to receive $300 as part of KLST's Pay it Forward campaign, sponsored by Carpet Tech.

Monica DelaGarza, owner of Posh Salon, was nominated to receive the money by a woman who admires her positivity and love of community outreach.

"She's amazing," Michelle said. "If you're ever having a bad day, you can come to the salon for five minutes, and your day will get much better."

Michelle also said that DelaGarza's love of community outreach and desire to share her faith inspired the nomination.

"One thing that Monica does for our community that I love and appreciate is right before school starts, she does a back-to-school thing where she gives free haircuts," Michelle said. "They do food and drinks and goodie bags, but the best thing she does is she tells the kids about Jesus."

DelaGarza tearfully shared about her faith.

"Sometimes you don't have the mom, sometimes you don't have the dad, sometimes you don't really get that strong start, and you go through life, and then you encounter this savior of the world that has loved you throughout all of it," DelaGarza said. "I just want to tell you that he has a plan for you, whether you know it or whether you don't."

She also spoke on how her back-to-school event contributes to the community.

"We're the hands and feet of Jesus, and all of us have gifts that are special ... and our gift, praise the Lord, is cutting hair, loving on kids!" DelaGarza said. "I just want to break that lie that you don't have a position, you're not needed, that you don't have anything to offer, because you do, I promise."
