SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The San Angelo Police Department held a press conference on the morning of Oct. 31 to discuss two separate instances of crime that occurred on Oct. 30 and Oct. 31.

Drive-by shooting

According to information released by the SAPD, law enforcement was dispatched at 3 p.m. on Oct. 30 in relation to a drive-by shooting reported near the intersection of Dallas Street and North Howard Street.

A witness provided information to 911 dispatchers that allowed officers to locate the suspect, 54-year-old George Torres, in his residence. The SAPD reported that "it was confirmed that the Victims vehicle was actually struck by the suspect."

Torres was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, and was transported to the Tom Green County Detention Center. He has no bond posted as of the time of publication.

Armed robbery

The SAPD shared information regarding an armed robbery that occurred during the early morning of Oct. 31. According to the SAPD, San Angelo Public Safety Communications received a 911 call at 2:50 a.m. in regard to a "male suspect brandishing a knife towards an employee" at the Allsup's gas station located at 514 N. Main St.

Officers responding to the incident located the male suspect, identified as 21-year-old Jaylon Knight, near the business. Law enforcement also located "the property he had stolen" and "the knife that he used to commit the offense."

Knight was arrested for aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, as well as for several city warrants. He has a posted bond of $964 as of the time of publication.
