Description
SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Salvation Army Emergency Shelter in San Angelo offers extended hours for guests as temperatures drop.
The shelter is available to anyone who needs a place to stay when temperatures are below 40 degrees. Major Adriana Martinez says that guests are now allowed to stay longer in the mornings.
"We are having staff come in and stay here until nine o'clock as the temperatures rise so we don't exit our clients at 7 a.m. in the morning," Maj. Martinez said.
The shelter is free of charge and guests only need to bring photo identification and fill out an application to stay. Warm meals, restrooms, and showers are also provided.
The Salvation Army also offers clothing vouchers to be used at their family thrift store.
The community is welcome to donate clothing, twin-sized bedding, and other household items.
"One thing that is being used on a daily basis are towels and blankets," Maj. Martinez said. "We do ask that they be gently worn."
The Salvation Army Emergency Shelter is located at 122 W. 2nd St. in San Angelo.
