SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — This week's Pay It Forward recipient is Shirley Oliphant for her work with the Children's Bed Project. She was nominated by her friend and was given $300 as part of KLST’s Pay It Forward Campaign, sponsored by Carpet Tech.

The Children's Bed Project, through Sierra Vista Methodist Church and San Angelo ISD, provides beds for children who don't have a place to sleep. Julie Raymond nominated her friend Shirley Oliphant because she has helped run the bed project for around ten years.

"She has never taken a salary for this job," said Raymond.

Oliphant said the Children's Bed Project has given out over 1800 beds to kids in need.

"We have given out over 1800 beds, and so that really comes out to over 10 years, there are over 180 days in a school year, so that's a bed a day for ten years to children," said Oliphant.
