SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State track and field teams swept the inaugural Blue & Gold Battle against Texas A&M – Kingsville on Friday at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.
The 14th-ranked Rams collected 102 points, while the Rambelles finished with 112 points in the meet.
On the women's side, the Belles set two program records as Marie Schuler won the hammer throw with a toss of 60.01m (196-10), while Kylyie Paden set the record in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.96m (12-11.75).
Also earning a provisional in the women's hammer throw was Esma Pajt, who threw 55.13m (180-10) to finish second in the event.
Federica Dozio claimed a provisional mark in the javelin, throwing 48.38m (158-9) to win the event, while Tiamara Hill-Johnson finished second in the discus with a provisional mark of 45.69m (149-11).
Kylie Frush won the long jump with a provisional mark of 5.93m (19-5.5) and also claimed a victory in the triple jump (11.78m | 38-7.75). Winning the shot put was Fedra Florentin, who threw 14.51m (47-7.25), which was also good enough for a provisional.
Mary Brown won both the 1,500-meter run and the 3,000-meter run, crossing the finish line in 4:51.09 and 11:00.81, respectively.
Shackelia Green won the 100-meter dash at 12.14 and the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.11 while Maricia Spence won the 100-meter hurdles at 14.49.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Brylee Gutierrez, Hailee Garmer, Kaylee Price, and Gracie Stephens combined for a time of 3:54.99 to beat the Javelinas.
For the men, Solomon Odonkor earned a provisional mark after taking first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.36. Adrian Nethersole also picked up a provisional mark, winning the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.52.
Oleg Ananyev won the pole vault with a height of 5.15m (16-0.75) to earn a provisional while Josh Body (15.08m | 49-5.75) and Marcus Wilson (13.38m | 43-10.75) both hit provisional marks in the triple jump to take first and third, respectively.
Kacy Kincade earned a victory in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.40, while Caden Glenn won the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:14.13.
The Rams also picked up wins in the 110-meter hurdles in Mark Burdin (56.80) and the high jump in Adrian Washington (2.00m | 6-6.75).
The 4x400-meter relay team of Prince Frimpong, Tristan Guerrero, Bossman Pinkrah, and Clayton Carlin won the event with a time of 3:18.20.
ASU will wrap up the indoor season next week as the Rams and Rambelles compete at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships beginning on Thursday, Mar. 13.
