SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Concho Valley had its fair share of unique breaking news headlines in 2024.
On March 21, Kyle Hall of Granbury, Texas, caught a world-record bass from O.H. Ivie Lake. The fish weighed 15.82 pounds and measured 27 inches in length. His name is now in the International Game Fish Association's bass record.
A few months later on July 14, a Customs and Border Protection drone crashed on Gas Plant Road and Fairview School Road in San Angelo. There were no injuries or damage to property. The cause of the crash is still unknown.
In October, three San Angelo Ropers qualified for the National Finals Rodeo. Ty Harris, Joel Braden, and Dylan Hancock headed to Las Vegas to compete in tie-down and calf-roping during the month of December.
On Dec. 5, the Amazon facility in San Angelo began operations. The 35,000 square-foot facility will shorten delivery times for Concho Valley residents.
