SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — With the new year fast-approaching, several companies and local businesses have big plans for San Angelo. Whether its companies making their first appearance in the town or established operations opening new locations, here are a few of the businesses that are potentially coming to San Angelo in 2025.

Downtown pizzeria to get lakefront sister location

It was announced at the beginning of September 2024 that the Old Central Firehouse Pizzeria & Taproom would be getting a sister location on the shore of Lake Nasworthy in summer 2025. Michele Babiash, the owner of Old Central Firehouse Pizzeria & Taproom, shared with Concho Valley Homepage during an interview conducted on Sept. 13 that the location is being built at a former marina.

Babiash also stated that several features not seen at the downtown location may be included at the lakefront pizzeria, such as boat docks for lake-goers to use and a small market near the shoreline. Concept art for the lakeside store depicted multiple outdoor dining locations, including a patio, park benches and pavilions.

Multimillion-dollar pickleball facility, eatery underway on Sherwood Way

San Angelo residents interested in playing a match of pickleball and having a bite to eat can look forward to the arrival Smashers. The facility, which has an estimated cost of $5 million as per City of San Angelo permits and inspections reports, is slated to open in summer 2025, according to business owner J.C. Gallagher.

Gallagher stated in an interview on Oct. 3 that Smashers will be an approximately 33,000-square-foot building that will house several amenities be used to offer a "fast casual" dining experience. The Smashers website stated that the following features can be expected:

• Seven indoor pickleball courts
• Two outdoor pickleball courts
• One indoor tennis court
• Full bar
• Restaurant
• Over 10,000 square feet of outdoor yard, including a playground with a kid’s playscape

The Grill to migrate operations, new restaurant to take its place

A 16-year-old staple in the San Angelo restaurant scene is also making moves ahead of 2025. Travis McMillan, general manager of The Grill, shared that plans are underway to migrate The Grill's operations to 5730 Sherwood Way.

In an interview held on Dec. 10, McMillan stated that the new location, which used to be a Shannon clinic, was purchased approximately three years ago by business owner Felipe Armenta. He said that the prospective storefront would undergo an approximately six-month remodeling process and that bids from contractors for the remodeling were being awaited.

McMillan also said that Armenta plans to turn The Grill's current location into a new restaurant that will offer a "different concept" than its predecessor.

Ranch supply store to open in Sunset Mall

Those shopping for Western wear, ranch equipment, animal feed and more may soon be able to buy what they need at the Sunset Mall with the upcoming opening of Murdoch's Ranch & Home Supply.

According to the storefront's webpage on the Murdoch's Ranch & Home Supply website, the location is "coming early 2025." The webpage stated that the store will feature a gun counter and be dog-friendly.

The San Angelo location will join the over Murdoch's Ranch & Home Supply shops operating in the United States once opened. Construction is already underway for the storefront, with the City of San Angelo's October 2024 permits and inspections report stating that an over $2.1 million commercial project has been issued for the business.

Fifth Chick-fil-A coming to northern San Angelo

If you love Chick-fil-A, you're in luck. A commercial project was issued for a Chick-fil-A in northern San Angelo, according to the City of San Angelo's permits and inspections report for August 2024. Construction has already begun for the business, which is located at 2210 N. Bryant Blvd.

The storefront, once opened, will be the fifth Chick-fil-A restaurant operating in San Angelo. The other locations are at the following addresses:

• 1609 Knickerbocker Rd.
• 2601 W. Ave. N
• 4001 Sunset Drive
