SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Texas Wildlife and Fisheries stocked the Concho River with rainbow trout.
On Friday, the water temperatures dropped below 70 degrees and biologists released about 600 rainbow trout in the Concho River. The most rainbow trout one person can legally catch is five a day.
"In Texas, winter trout stocking is kind of a unique program we have," said Lynn Wright a Texas Parks and Wildlife District Fisheries Management Supervisor.
Wright explained how rainbow trout like water under 70 degrees, which is why in the winter they give their anglers a "unique" opportunity.
The Concho River will be stocked again with rainbow trout in January and February.
