SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Angelo State women's tennis team started conference play with a 5-2 win over Texas A&M - Kingsville Friday afternoon inside ASU Tennis Complex. 

 

The Belles improve to 9-0 overall, the best start in school history.

 

With the 5-2 win over the Javelinas, Head Coach Jason Potthoff earned his 100th career victory.

 

The No. 6th ranked doubles team in the nation, Eva Schwartz and Avery Durham, started the day off strong for the Rambelles, winning 6-0 at line one doubles. Margaux Rene and Benedetta Raggiotti defeated Andrea Landaeta and Annalena Noll to clinch the doubles point for the Rambelles, 6-3. Ivet Stancheva and Jessica Li would drop their doubles to Kaitlin blonde and Luna Jokanovic, 6-3.

 

Jessica Li would get the first singles point for the Rambelles as she would defeat Annalena noll 6-3, 6-2 to give the Rambelles an early 2-0 advantage. 

 

Avery Durham continued her impressive run of form from line six as she defeated Ann Anderson Gomez 6-2, 6-2 to give the Rambelles a 3-0 advantage. 

 

Eva Schwartz would clinch the match for the Rambelles as she defeated Guadalupe Tocci 7-6, 6-2 to give the Rambelles a 9-0 winning streak.

 

Margaux Rene would drop her first singles contest of her career as she would fall to Luna Jokanovic in a three-set thriller 6-1, 6-7, 6-2.

 

Ivet Stancheva would drop her match at line five to Manuela Turolo 6-4, 7-6.
