ORLANDO, FL - The Angelo State women's tennis team defeated No. 7 Nebraska-Kearney 4-3 Sunday afternoon at the USTA National Campus.

 

The Rambelles improve 11-0 to start the season extending their program record. 

 

Ivet Stancheva and Jessica Li would start off the match defeating Fabiana Gamboa and Clare Plachy 6-4. Margaux Rene and Benedetta Raggiotti would defeat Alexis Bernthal and Masha Hatouka 6-3 to earn their first ranked win as a doubles pairing and to clinch the doubles point for the Rambelles to give them an early 1-0 advantage.

 

Alexis Bernthal defeated Benedetta Raggiotti 6-3, 6-1 to tie the match at 1-1.

 

Jessica Li defeated the No. 74 ranked singles player Tanya Midzi 6-3, 6-4 to earn her first ranked win of the season and giving the Rambelles an 2-1 advantage.

 

Margaux Rene fell to the No. 39 ranked singles player Narindra Ranaivo 6-4, 6-1 tying the match 2-2

 

Eva Schwartz would fall to the No. 9 ranked singles player Fabiana Gamboa 7-5, 6-1 to give the Lopers an 3-2 advantage. 

 

Ivet Stancheva would get back on track defeating Care Plachy 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 to tie the match 3-3. 

 

With the match online the senior leader Avery Durham defeated Masha Hatouka 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 in a three-set thriller to pull off the upset win.
