SERIES HISTORY:
All-Time Series: ASU leads the series 44-30
Last Meeting: Apr. 14, 2024: ASU, 10-4 – San Angelo, Texas
The Rams and Javelinas have gone blow for blow every year since 2012 with ASU currently carrying a seven game winning streak against TAMUK entering the weekend dating back to the 2023 regular season.
LAST TIME OUT:
The Rams enter the weekend riding a six-game winning streak after sweeping Texas A&M International by a combined score of 35-12 in a series that featured the Rams winning in various ways including comebacks in games two and four and a 20-3 victory to open the series and a 11-0 shutout in game three.
Offensively, The Rams hit five home runs across the weekend highlighted by the team launching three of them in the bottom of the first in game one.
On the mound, ASU saw gems twirled by Dax Dathe, who struck out 10 in game three's start, and Ryan Free, who delivered 5.2 innings of relief and held TAMIU scoreless as the Rams mounted the comeback to secure the series sweep.
SCOUTING THE JAVELINAS:
Kingsville enters the weekend with a 19-15 overall record, having lost six in a row including the back half of the four game series against St. Mary's before getting swept last weekend at Lubbock Christian.
Despite the struggles in the win column, the Javelinas sport six hitters who are actively hitting above a .300 batting average highlighted by Isaiah Aguilar, whose 45 hits lead the team, and Vincent Sanchez who leads the team with 13 extra base hits.
From the bump, TAMUK sits in sixth place with a 5.61 staff ERA with big contributions from Ruben Rendon III and Marco Martinez out of the bullpen as each are the only pitchers on the staff who have a ERA less than 3.00.
