SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — San Angelo ISD Superintendent Dr. Christopher Moran joined KLST's Randy Turner to share the latest news happening with the school district.

Dr. Moran highlighted the SAISD School Board and shared that January is School Board Appreciation Month.

"I think most people probably don't understand the full role of the board nut they, they're volunteers. They don't get paid, they are elected officials," Dr. Moran said. "The seven board members that we have are really great people."

He further explained that these individuals meet two times a month to oversee and advocate for the kids at SAISD.

Ways you or your student could show appreciation for a board member this month are:

• Write a note
• Send an email
• Thank them in person

Along with highlighting the school board at SAISD, Dr, Moran shared that there will be three FASFA and TASFA presentations during the week of Jan. 13 to help students and parents through the process.

"This process can be intimidating for students and parents, if they haven't experienced it before or for those of us that are on child number four, it is still a little intimidating," he said. "So I would encourage parents and students to take advantage of these three opportunities."

These presentations will be:

• Monday, Jan. 13 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Region 15 building
• Tuesday, Jan. 14 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Central High School's Tucker Building
• Thursday, Jan. 16 at Lake View High School
