San Angelo Independent School District is committed to fostering student growth and readiness through a diverse array of summer programs designed to support learners at every stage. These initiatives include academic enrichment and transitional support to help students stay engaged and prepared for the upcoming school year. Additionally, SAISD provides a Summer Meal Program to ensure children and teens have access to nutritious meals throughout the summer. 

These comprehensive programs reflect SAISD's strong commitment to student success, well-being, and preparing future-ready graduates.

Elementary School Summer Opportunities

Elementary Summer School

June 4–26 | Glenmore and Goliad Elementary School

This summer, instruction is for students entering 2nd and 5th grade, including direct instruction in reading and math. Registration details will go out in May. 

Emergent Bilingual Elementary Summer School 

June 2–26 | Goliad Elementary School

This program serves emergent bilingual students entering kindergarten and first grade. Students attend Monday–Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Registration details will be sent out in May.

Elementary July Summer School

July 14–31 | Goliad Elementary School

This summer instruction is for students entering 5th grade and is done in partnership with the YMCA. Students receive direct instruction in reading and math. Students attend Monday through Thursday. Registration details will be sent out in May.

San Angelo ISD Kindergarten Jump Start 

July 24, 25, 28, and 29 | Bowie, Fannin, Glenmore, and Goliad Elementary School

SAISD's Kindergarten Jump Start program allows incoming Kindergarten students to become familiar with school expectations to make the transition as smooth as possible. Students attend Thursday–Friday and Monday–Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Registration details will be sent out in May.

Elementary Extended School Year (ESY) 

July 21–August 1 | Lamar Elementary with lunch provided at Goliad Elementary School

During San Angelo ISD's Extended School Year (ESY), our highly trained special education teachers and support staff are dedicated to helping each student reach their full potential. SAISD provides a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters academic and personal growth. ESY services are individualized instructional programs for eligible students with disabilities that are provided beyond the regular school year. 

The need for ESY services is determined individually by the admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) committee based on the child's specific and unique needs and goals. ESY is not the same as traditional Summer School. ESY services are specially designed to help students with disabilities maintain the progress they have made during the school year. Students attend July 21–August 1, Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Registration details will go out in May. 

Elementary INspire Summer School 

June 4–26 | Goliad Elementary School

Students attend June 4–26, Monday–Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to noon. The need for the program is determined individually by the admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) committee based on the child's specific and unique needs and goals. 

Middle School Summer Opportunities

San Angelo ISD Middle School Jump Start

Glenn, Lincoln, and Lone Star Middle School

SAISD's Middle School Jump Start is to provide incoming 6th graders with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the expectations of middle school to make the transition as smooth as possible. Students attend only one session out of the three sessions offered.

Session 1: June 4–5

Session 2: June 9–10

Session 3: June 11–12

Times: 8:30–11:30 a.m. Registration details will go out in May. 

High School Summer Opportunities

High School Summer School Humanities

This summer program is for students needing small group instruction and support in humanities (English I, English II, or US History) and/or STEM (Algebra I or Biology) to prepare to retake a state end-of-course exam. Student hours are 8:00 a.m.–noon. Registration details will go out in May. 

Session 1:  June 10–12 and 16–17 @ Lake View High School

Session 2:  June 18–19 and 23–25 @ Central High School

Summer Credit Recovery for High School students

July 8–10; 16; 22–24; 29–31 | Central High School and Lake View High School 

This summer program is for students needing to retake classes to earn credits from 8:00 a.m.–noon on the offered dates. (Students do not attend on July 15 or July 17.) 

Secondary Extended School Year (ESY)

INspire Secondary Special Education

Extended School Year (ESY) services are determined based on individual student needs, supported by data, and decided by the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee.

Pre-K – 12 Summer Opportunities

Summer Meals Program

In addition to summer enrichment activities listed above, SAISD will also offer Summer Meal Program sites to provide children and teens ages 18 and younger healthy meals, including breakfast and lunch, starting in June at no cost, just by showing up at a participating site. Children do not have to be classified as economically disadvantaged to participate, and there is no paperwork to complete.
